Duncraig Senior High School – Admin Centre

Education

CONSTRUCTION VALUE $2.6M | DURATION 2018 - 2019

KEY PERSONNEL Greg Paterson, Chris Donovan

As a separable portion of works, PA was responsible for delivery of a new Administration Centre for Duncraig Senior High School, commissioned at the same time as the Year 7 teaching block development.

With the introduction of Year 7 students to high school, Duncraig SHS identified the need for a separate administration centre to cater for the needs of these new students as they transition into the senior years.

The new administration block was positioned at the junction between the new Year 7 teaching block and the existing senior school. It acts as a point of entry to the campus and is highly visible to the community beyond. This prominent position, combined with the desire to
generate a welcoming, enjoyable environment for the students, was the catalyst for the dynamic and colourful façade treatment. As the Council required a percentage of the construction budget to be allocated to artwork, PA and the school determined to eschew a traditional static art installation and instead incorporate artwork into the building itself. An artist was engaged to design the colourful façade and PA oversaw its translation into a
building façade system.
