Warwick Hockey Facility
The Council vision was to create a facility to cater for hockey needs within the City of Joondalup and the Warwick Hockey Club. Complete with one synthetic and two grass fields, the sports pavilion is positioned to maximise outlook over the playing fields, and proximity to the main pitch.
The complex has been elevated to allow for spectator seating and enhanced views over the playing fields from the clubrooms and function space. Maintenance minimisation and reducing the extent of wilful damage was an integral part of the design brief.
Material selections were simple and robust as per the City’s policies, and included:
- All low-level walls are rendered and painted masonry of a colour to match other communal facilities
- High level walling and roofing was a metal deck of selected colours
- Crimsafe screens applied to all windows and doors
The tender result was an excellent result being approximately 12% under the pre-tender estimate. This has allowed the provision of more parking to be included in the project scope.
