The Platform Apartment Development Woodbridge
Located opposite Coal Dam Park and within walking distance of the Midland train station, town centre and the historic Midland Workshops, our brief was to design a mixed use/residential complex.
The accommodation was to provide a mix of one, two and three bed apartments, in combination with commercial tenancies on the ground floor. The nature and density of the complex was to be consistent with Transit Oriented Development.
Our response was to create five distinct modules, each with its own street address and entry. Four of these were three storey ‘walk-up’ blocks which oriented to the west over a park and to the south overlooking Coal Dam Park. The fifth module was a five storey block which also overlooked Coal Dam Park to the south and Midland to the north. Consistent with precinct design guidelines, minimal street setbacks were required.
Accommodation provided 55 apartments: 41 two bed, 11 one bed and 3 three bed apartments. Six of the ground floor apartments were designed to allow for either commercial or residential use.
