Mandurah Marine Operations Centre
The building is a multi-agency government complex comprising 1,500m² of offices and 525m² of secure vessel storage and workshop spaces for the marine operations of all tenants.
The building brief required a clear segregation of public and secured spaces, simultaneously delivering a public interface while providing a secure working environment for the occupants. The complex has a secured portion at the rear of the building with the carpark forward of the building being in the public domain.
This is reflected in the public nature of the ground floor facilities which are discreetly but distinctly separate from the WA Water Police also located in ground floor offices and the upper levels of offices which accommodate the Departments of Fisheries, Water and Environment and Conservation. A blade wall expresses the separation between the public realm on the ground floor and the space occupied by the police department in the adjacent single storey structure.
